ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The new 70,000-square-foot industrial warehouse production facility was constructed on a large site at the corner of Elm Street and Underwood Drive in Flowood, Mississippi. The total disturbed area for the site was approximately 25 acres. Aside from the new warehouse facility, for the foundation design of which Smithers Engineers provided structural engineering services, the project included two detention ponds, an expansive laydown yard, a staff parking area, an entry drive, extensive grading and drainage work, and utilities. Traffic flow into, out of, and around the site is vital to all industrial warehouse sites with tractor trailers navigating the site each day, in conjunction with passenger cars for the employees. One challenge of this site was poor natural drainage and soil conditions. Successfully navigating the challenges and requirements for the site development, Smithers Engineers provided construction documents for site demolition, erosion control, site layout, grading and drainage, and utilities.
