Smithers Engineers provides civil engineering services for a diverse range of project types. Civil engineering services related to site development of building sites is a major focus area. We have worked on numerous athletic facility projects for high schools and colleges for many different sports. We have optimized space on new sites as well as worked within the confines of an existing site or campus. Often, we provide full site design services and preparation of construction documents including erosion control, stormwater management, water and wastewater design, and permitting. Other projects require only conceptual site planning or forensic engineering. Structural Engineering
Smithers Engineers provides structural engineering services for a diverse range of project types. Primarily, our structural engineering services are related to buildings. We design new buildings, building renovations, and building additions. We also evaluate and assess existing buildings, including historic structures. These assessments often necessitate strengthening or repairs of the existing structure.
We perform structural analysis and design with a wide array of materials including mild reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood, masonry, cold-formed steel, and post-tensioned concrete. Not only do we design with these materials, but also we repair and renovate structures constructed of these materials. Often we work as consultants to architects or contractors, but at other times we work directly with private owners to assess structural problems or analyze buildings for code compliance.
